Competition

The London Gala Ball would like to invite all competitive Pro-Am couples to take onto the floor at the beautiful Porchester Hall, which boasts a beautiful historical ballroom with sprung wooden floor, chandeliers, red carpet and everything to make it a glamorous occasion. You can watch the official showreel of this event to get the true flavour of the occasion.

The competition is for International Style Ballroom, Latin, American Smooth and Show Dance, and we welcome everyone irrespective of association and qualifications.

COMPETITION RULES:
One student can enter two consecutive Categories, but only dance their own age or younger.
No partner change during heats.
All Categories may dance open routines.
No lifts are permitted at any level, apart from the Show Dance.
No dress restrictions, except appropriate dance shoes must be worn.
‘Pro-Am’ for this competition only will refer to as a Professional or Amateur teacher/coach dancing with their student.

Categories explained:
Category C/Beginner – for students with limited dance and competition experience dancing up to Silver level, but may dance open choreography;
Category B/Intermediate – for students dancing up to Gold level, but may dance open choreography;
Category C/Advanced – for students dancing any level open choreography.

Show Dance:
One Pro-Am couple is dancing at a time to their chosen music.
Length of the routine should be between 2 and 2.5min, including intro.
Choreography should contain at least 70% of Ballroom or Latin styles.
Lifts are allowed and should be performed in a safe manner under full responsibility of the professional partner.
Each couple will get a professional video of their performance.
The Show Dance winners will perform during the Dinner Dance in the evening
